Hertz has a wide range of vehicles to choose from, including fuel-efficient cars, luxury SUVs, premium high-end vehicles, and passenger vans (with options for wheelchair access). Availability varies per location.
AMEX, Mastercard, Visa, and Diners Club credit cards are accepted for vehicle payments with Hertz. You can also pay with a Visa or Mastercard debit card. The nominated credit card must have available funds equal to the estimated cost of the rental, plus a security bond in order to secure the booking. Bond amount will vary per location.
The security deposit amount is equal to the total estimated rental charges plus between AUD $100 to AUD $550 based on your chosen car type and pick up location.
Hertz has a minimum age requirement of 21 years old. Drivers aged between 21 and 24 will need to pay a young driver surcharge, which will vary depending on the chosen vehicle.
Hertz accepts any valid driver licence held for at least 12 months. The licence must be printed in English, otherwise an International Driving Permit (IDP) will be required. Learning permits aren’t accepted under Hertz’s licence requirements.
Yes. Basic cover is included in the rental quote, but if the vehicle is stolen, damaged, or a third-party loss occurs while the vehicle is in your possession, you’ll have to pay up to the Rental Vehicle Excess amount listed in your rental agreement with Hertz.
There’s no charge for mechanical issues. However, if the call-out is for a problem not inherent to the vehicle, as in you locked the keys in the vehicle, or you get a flat tyre or flat battery, a $165 roadside assistance fee will be charged to your nominated credit card.
You can purchase a Day Pass from Hertz to cover you for any toll road usage per day. The cost of the Day Pass can vary between states, but can be purchased at any time before or during your journey for added convenience.
No. There’s no need to wash the vehicle, but you should return it to Hertz in a fair condition to avoid extra fees.
Yes. Hertz will charge you at a higher rate per litre to refuel the vehicle if it’s returned with less petrol than it started with.
Before your journey commences, you can modify your booking with the VroomVroomVroom app or contact our customer care team to request an extension. If you’ve already collected the vehicle, you’ll need to contact Hertz or visit their nearest depot. Changes or extensions to your rental agreement are subject to vehicle availability and additional payment.
