What cars does East Coast have?

East Coast offers compact cars, economy cars, intermediate cars, SUVs, wagons, and passenger vans.

How can I pay for my car hire with East Coast?

Vehicle payments can be made by credit card. Alternatively, you can use a debit card with a Visa or Mastercard logo. East Coast doesn’t accept cash at city offices.

How much does East Coast require for security bond and how long will it take to refund?

East Coast require a holding deposit​ up to the chosen excess on the hirer's credit or debit card. The deposit will be returned upon return of the vehicle in the same condition as it was when rented.​ The time it will take to refund the deposit depends on the customer’s bank. It can take 3 to 5 business days for the funds to be fully available.​

What is the minimum age to hire a car from East Coast in Australia?

Generally, East Coast’s minimum age requirement for drivers is 25. Drivers aged between 21 and 24 may be permitted to rent a car but will need to pay a young driver surcharge.

What type of driving licence does East Coast accept?

Any valid driver’s licence printed in English meets East Coast’s driving licence requirements. If your licence isn’t in English, you’ll need an International Driving Permit (IDP).

Does an East Coast hire car include insurance?

Yes. Basic cover is included in the rental quote. However, in the event the vehicle is stolen, damaged, or a third-party loss occurs during your journey, you must pay up to the Rental Vehicle Excess amount listed in your rental agreement with East Coast.

How much does roadside assistance cost for an East Coast vehicle?

If you require roadside assistance due to fault of your own, such as locking the keys in the car, or a flat battery due to leaving the lights on, you will be charged a $110 call-out fee. If the issue is mechanical, you won’t be charged.

How do I pay for road tolls with East Coast?

All East Coast vehicles are fitted with e-Tags, meaning your toll road usage will be recorded and your nominated credit card will be charged by RMS for any amounts accumulated.

Do I have to wash the vehicle before returning it to East Coast?

No. However, if the car is considered excessively dirty upon return, you may be charged a cleaning fee.

Do I need to refuel before returning the vehicle to East Coast?

Yes. You need to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel it had at collection (usually a full tank) or additional fees will apply.

How do I extend the booking period of my East Coast hire car?

You can modify your booking with the VroomVroomVroom app​ or contact our customer care team​. This is only possible before collecting the vehicle. If the rental period has commenced, you’ll need to contact or visit the nearest East Coast depot. Extensions are subject to vehicle availability and additional charges.
