What type of driver licence does East Coast Car Rental accept?
East Coast Car Rentals requires a valid and current driver licence to rent a vehicle. If the licence is not in English you will need to provide an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your local licence. Provisional licences are accepted as long as they have been held for at least 12 months, P-plates must be displayed on the hire car for the duration of the rental, and the East Coast Car Rental Loss Damage Waiver must be purchased. Learner drivers are not permitted to rent a hire car from East Coast Car Rental.
Can I add an additional driver to my East Coast Car Rental car rental?
Yes, East Coast Car Rental allows for additional drivers, but each additional driver is subject to the same criteria as the primary driver. An additional one-off fee will be applied for each additional driver.
Does an East Coast Car Rental hire car include insurance?
Yes. Basic cover is included in the rental quote, but should the vehicle be stolen or damaged in an accident, or a third-party loss occurs, you’ll be liable to pay up to the Rental Vehicle Excess amount as per your East Coast Car Rental Rental Agreement. The excess refers to the amount renters are liable for before the basic cover applies and the amount of this excess can vary depending on the type of vehicle, the age of the renter, and a number of other variables. East Coast offers additional coverage as a fee-based service, and this can reduce your damage excess charge, but be sure to read through your detailed Rental Agreement to see what damage is and is not covered, and also for more information regarding the cost of excess reduction cover. Prosura is another excess insurance option to consider if you are looking for comprehensive excess reduction coverage.
Does an East Coast Car Rental rental car include roadside assistance?
Yes. East Coast Car Rental will provide complimentary roadside assistance for any mechanical-based defects that are inherent to the vehicle. However, for issues which aren’t strictly mechanical, such as (but not restricted to) tire changing, getting locked out of your car, or a flat battery, you’ll be charged a call-out fee along with any associated costs. East Coast Car Rental offers Premium Roadside Assistance for an additional fee to cover for these and other situations.
How do I pay for road tolls with East Coast Car Rental?
East Coast Car Rental hire cars are tag-less and instead rely on licence identification when the vehicle uses a toll road. The toll charge plus an administrative per-toll charge is levied to your credit card by East Coast Car Rental as soon as practical after the toll charge is incurred. For further information, please see the “Important Information” section for details specific to your rental vehicle or contact our customer care team.
Is there a mileage limit for East Coast Car Rental rental cars?
If a kilometre limit on driving distance applies to your East Coast Car Rental hire car, the daily kilometre allowance will be shown on your Rental Agreement. If you drive in excess of this daily allowance, a charge may apply for the additional distance.
What is the fuel policy for rental cars hired through East Coast Car Rental?
East Coast Car Rental supplies their rental cars with a full tank of fuel and expects them to be returned in the same state. If you return your hire car with a less than full fuel tank, you will be charged for the cost of refuelling. To avoid this situation, refill the fuel tank at your own expense before returning the vehicle. To save money, use the VroomVroomVroom fuel price comparison app to find the best-priced petrol near the depot you need to return your rental car to
How do I modify or cancel my rental car booking with East Coast Car Rental?
If your hire car rental period is yet to commence, you can modify your booking within the VroomVroomVroom app or by contacting our customer care team to make the required changes. If you have already collected your East Coast Car Rental hire car, you’ll need to contact the depot you collected the vehicle from to request an extra day — or whatever extension period is desired. Bear in mind that any change to the rental period — regardless of if it is before you have collected the car or after — may alter the total cost of your hire car. If you need to cancel your booking, if you paid a deposit at the time of your booking with East Coast Car Rental through VroomVroomVroom, then you need to give at least 48 hours notice of your cancellation in order to receive a refund.
