AMEX, Mastercard, Visa, JCB, and Diners Club credit cards are accepted for vehicle payments with Sixt. Visa and Mastercard debit cards are only accepted at some Sixt locations, and cash payments are not currently supported.
Standard car types commonly require a security deposit of AUD $200. Higher deposits are required for specialist vehicles.
As per their minimum age requirement, you need to be at least 21 years old to hire a car with Sixt. Drivers aged between 21 and 24 will need to pay a young driver surcharge and may be restricted to a limited range of vehicles.
Any unrestricted licence, either Australian or international, will satisfy Sixt's driving licence requirements. Learner permits and provisional licences are not accepted for vehicle hire, and if your licence isn’t printed in English, you’ll need to present an International Driving Permit (IDP).
Yes. Basic cover is included in the rental quote, but should the vehicle be stolen or damaged in an accident, or a third-party loss occurs, you’ll be liable to pay up to the Rental Vehicle Excess amount as per your Sixt rental agreement.
Yes. Sixt will provide complimentary roadside assistance for any mechanical-based defects that are inherent to the vehicle. However, for issues caused by human error—or those which aren’t strictly mechanical—you’ll be charged a call-out fee.
As all Sixt vehicles are fitted with e-Tags, your toll road usage will be tracked. Roads and Maritime Services will charge your nominated credit card for any toll amounts accrued during your journey.
No. Sixt doesn’t require you to wash the hire car prior to drop-off, but it’s advised you return the vehicle in fair condition to avoid cleaning fees.
Yes. Return the hire car to Sixt with a full tank of petrol to avoid additional charges.
You can modify your booking with the VroomVroomVroom app or contact our customer care team to make changes before your booking period commences. If you’ve already collected your vehicle, you’ll need to contact the Sixt depot you collected from. Any changes may alter the total cost of your rental.
