Credit Card Payment
What credit cards do car hire companies in Australia accept?
Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, East Coast Car Rentals, and Thrifty accept many major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club. You need to present your credit card when you collect your hire car and sign the rental agreement. Apart from your credit card, some car rental companies may require you to present another credit card for certain vehicle types. A hold could also be placed on your card to cover the security bond.
Can I use someone else's credit card?
No. For security purposes, the renter is required to present a valid credit card with his/her name imprinted on it at the time of rental. It is mandatory that the name, address and signature on the credit card must match the name, address and signature on the driver's licence. If the name on the credit card does not match, you may not be permitted to rent a vehicle.
I forgot my credit card, can I show a picture of it instead?
No. For security reasons, you will need to provide all documentation in person. When you rent a car, the car rental company will require you to show your credit card and drivers licence in person. They will need to swipe the credit card and take photocopies of both your credit card and drivers licence. As you will be renting a car and taking it off-premise, this is a security measure that needs to take place.
