Many airports around Australia charge what is known as an "Airport or Premium Location Fee". This is a fee levied on the car rental suppliers by the Federal Airports and for Premium Locations within a CBD. Please note that this is a percentage surcharge that applies to the cost of the rental (and extras where accepted) and ranges from 3% - 29 %.
Where permitted, in addition to time and kilometer charges and taxes, a Premium Location surcharge/Concession Recovery fee may apply to rentals from airport locations and selected off-airport locations. This fee is included in your reservation varies by location. Remember that rates for Airport Pickups are usually higher due to the Aviation Authority charging high rents for the car rental companies to be located there and passed onto the consumer.
