Mount Newman

Take in amazing views of the Ophthalmia Ranges when you hike to the top of Mount Newman, which is 1128m above sea level. It takes around four hours to hike from the base of the mountain to the summit.

Opthalmia Dam

Address: Newman, 6753

A popular spot to dive in for a refreshing dip, Ophthalmia Dam is the result of a branch of the Fortescue River being dammed in 1981. The dam was made to capture seasonal rain to replenish underground water reserves. There’s also shelters, barbecues and tables on site.
