Onslow is a coastal town in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and is about 1,386 kilometers north of Perth. The town has a population of about 573 and is included in the Shire of Ashburton's Local Government Area.
Originally founded in 1883, Onslow was a port at the mouth of Ashburton River for exporting wool from the sheep stations of the Pilbarahinterland. Onslow was named after the former Chief Justice of Western Australia, Sir Alexander Campbell Onslow.

The Old Town Site
Originally established in 1885 during the gold rush, the Old Town Site of Onslow shows an insight into the lives of the people who first lived in the area. In the site, you'll see recently restored ruins such as the stone buildings that were once the police station, gaol, post office, and hospital.
But before traveling to the Old Town Site, it would be great if you'd first stop at the Onslow Visitors Centre because it was one of the original buildings of the old town. The Onslow Visitors Centre houses interesting memorabilia and artifacts from the original town site.
