What's going on at Vroom?

Here we are at the end of another financial year, preparing to visit the tax man in the hope that he may have a little surprise in stall? Maybe a short break to the Victorian snowfields with the family, or a tropical escape to far North Queensland to dodge the chill! Either way some time out would be great at this time of year.

If you are planning a vacation over the school holidays, or even a weekend away check out our great car hire deals. Treat that special someone to a romantic getaway, grab the Audi or the Astra convertible and hit the coast, or bundle the kids and the bikes into a Tarago and head for the hills. Put your hectic life on pause for just a few moments....

School Holiday Travel Tip

Travelling with the kids over long distances can be a stretch for all concerned. Planned rest stops are one way of ensuring everyone's survival and sanity!! Not only are rest stops every two hours important for driver fatigue, they also quell the boredom and the restlessness of the little ones (and the bigger ones too). Rest stops help to break that long journey into manageable bite sized stages.

Plan your breaks before you set off driving. Involve the kids and make your trip an adventure, get out the map at home and do some research. Mark your rest stops and any cool landmarks of interest, like the Big Macadamia in far North Queensland, or the Giant Ned Kelly in Victoria. This way the kids can follow the journey from town to town, rather than being fixated on the final destination which may seem like forever away.... "are we there yet?".

Stop at rest areas where there is room for play. Go to the boot and take out the footy or frisbee and let them run off some of that travel generated energy. Have a picnic lunch at a park rather than being tempted by the McDonalds drive though. Remember that lollies and junk food may appease them for a while, however, once the sugar kicks in you are going to have a very noisy back seat filled with fidgety little monsters.

Family holidays are all about having fun! Your journey in the car to Grandma's house or the Dubbo Zoo should be no different. Once the novelty of the Game Boy and the in car DVD have worn off, suggest some old favourites everyone can enjoy - nothing beats 'I Spy' or the number plate game....

Happy and safe travels!
