Grandpa’s Guide to Driving in Mandurah
Another of Western Australia’s wonders; the city of Mandurah!
Mandurah is the second largest city in Western Australia and about 72 kilometers south of Perth. Located at the entrance to the Peel Inlet, Mandurah offers a unique blend of fishing, swimming, and beach activities in some of the best waterways in Australia. Mandurah is the ultimate gateway to Australia’s South West!
Mandurah, with a population of about 85,000, is well known for its protected waterways, beaches, and superb boating and fishing activities. And the city holds a nationally significant arts festival (Stretch Festival) during April each year that attracts wide community participation.
Aside from its marvelous beaches, Mandurah also has other tourist attractions that will surely make your day!
1. The Abingdon Miniature VillageIn the Abingdon Miniature Village, you’ll see displays of 1:10 miniature models of historic buildings from the United Kingdom, set amongst four acres of beautifully arranged gardens!
These miniature buildings are the exact replicas of many well known historic buildings from all parts of the United Kingdom! When you walk through the amazingly landscaped gardens, you’ll be just like stepping to a portal through time! You’ll see Olde England and will be awestruck at the incredible details of more than 30 miniature buildings!
A self-guided tour will take you past the ornamental lake and miniature steam train, canals, locks, and barges to the town of Abingdon which is the oldest continually inhabited town in England!
Who would have thought that even if you’re in Australia, the historic buildings of the United Kingdom are just a few minutes away from Mandurah?!
2. The Australian Sailing MuseumLocated in the Mandurah Cultural Centre, the Australian Sailing Museum is an attraction that you should not miss especially for those “sailing” enthusiasts!
The museum offers a wide display of models, history of Australian sailing from the 1800s, America’s Cup history, marine art, wax figures of sailing icons, and pennants! And after enjoying the museum, why not chill at their café and indulge at the magnificent view of the Mandurah waterways.
3. The King Carnival Mini GolfLocated in Leighton Road, the King Carnival Mini Golf is the perfect place to have an excellent time with your family!
The King Carnival has an amazing 18 Hole Mini Golf Course which is rated as one of the top five in Australia! Surrounded by vast greenery, with streams and a scenic waterfall that leads to a placid pond with a charming fountain, you’ll absolutely have an incredibly relaxed experience!
Aside from its golf course, King Carnival has rides for the whole family to enjoy. They have Dodgem Cars, and their Ferris wheel has been a landmark in Mandurah for over 50 years! The kids will love the beautiful view! King Carnival also have the Tilt A Whirl (where you’ll spin again and again with incredible force), the quad mini bikes (which is great for all ages), the Toon Train, the Critter Train, the London Bus, the “Titanic Slide”, the Simulated Baseball Batting, and the Bungee Tramps which are all perfect for their guests and is certain to bring a smile to each and every child!
See how beautiful Mandurah is! Words are sometimes not enough to describe how beautiful a place is. So, why don’t you visit and see Mandurah for yourself? And if you’ll need a car, book nowhere else but in Mandurah Car Rental! They have the best cars with cheapest rental rates! And I’ll give their customer service two thumbs-up.
