Grandpa’s Guide to Driving in Croydon

A very cold evening my readers. It’s cold yet still a beautiful night as I write this. Tonight, I would like to share with you some of the things I’ve seen when I visited Croydon in Melbourne, Australia.

Croydon is a suburb, 27 kilometers east from Melbourne’s central business district. It is located between Ringwood and Lilydale, in the foothills of the marvelous Dandenong Range. Its Local Government Area is the City of Maroondah. Croydon has a population of about 22,029.

Croydon is a place with many shopping facilities, park lands, open space and sporting facilities, and several native flora reserves with walking tracks. Croydon’s wide, tree-lined road with marvelous views of the mountain peaks of the Dandenong Ranges in the background will make you realize that Croydon is a fantastic place to visit!

Some of Croydon’s must-see attractions are:

1. The Croydon Main Street

If you’re into shopping and hanging out, then the Croydon Main Street is the place for you!

Croydon Mainstreet runs north from Mt. Dandenong Road, to the railway line at Croydon Station. And the whole area includes about 180 businesses!

The have a wide variety of cafes, food, fashion, entertainment, and general goods. What else could you look for that you won’t find in Main Street?!

2. The Maroondah Festival

Each year, the Croydon Park is embraced by the City of Maroondah and residents from the surrounding suburbs!

The Maroondah Festival is an event that is included on Melbourne’s top community events. The Festival is completely open to the public and is full of entertainment!

And here’s what: the Festival’s hundred free activities attracts more than 30,000 visitors in one day!

3. The Wyreena Community Art Centre

A community facility that includes a gallery, conservatory, and café.

Wyreena Community Art Centre is set in historic buildings and 4 acres of beautiful gardens, and operates a large range of art and craft classes. It is also home to many community groups.
Wyreena also features a classic English-style glass conservatory café that overlooks an adventure playground. And the adjoining gallery showcases the splendid works of established and at the same time emerging artists.

For that trip, I remember that I booked an amazing car in this website: Croydon Car Rental. It was amazing because the car was in top shape but the rental rates were really cheap! And they people managing that car rental company sure are excellent when it comes to customer services. I moved the schedule of the trip twice because of some sudden changes in my schedule. And the car rental company was really flexible with my schedule. (Affordable rates plus excellent customer service, I recommend that next time you rent a car, book with that site.)
