Grandpa’s Guide to Driving in Roxby Downs
Why, hello there, mates! This is your ever energetic Grandpa Ben, dishing out the latest and the greatest that The Land Down Under has to offer! This time I’m doing a special on Roxby Downs, the quirky mining town put up to support the influx that came about from the discovery of the Olympic Dam mine.
Roxby Downs is quite a remarkable place, partly because it has one of the highest birth rates in Australia. The town boasts of a lifestyle that many chase after. Roxby Downs is definitely a destination that’s one of a kind! Truly a place packed with opportunity.
There many ways to get around Roxby Downs but the only way I’d go is by car rental. You’re looking for sophistication and safety, all in one vehicle. Not only that, you’re looking for something that’s within your budget. Seems impossible? Don’t worry, it’s not! Here at Roxby Downs Car Rental, that dream becomes a reality!
Since Roxby Downs is full of tours and attractions, it’s quite hard choosing which ones to visit given the limited time you’re given for vacations. Lucky for you, I’m here to narrow your options down to the best and most fulfilling.
1. Arid Recovery ReserveOne of the local tours available is the Arid Recovery Reserve. It offers Roxby Downs visitors a chance to enjoy one of BHP Billiton funded reserves. The reserve has been put up to house native animals like the bilby, the western barred bandicoot, burrowing bettong and the sticknest rat. With all these nifty animals to see, Arid Recovery Reserve’s definitely going to keep you entertained the whole day!
2. Flinders Ranges and OutbackIf you feel like going on an uplifting Outback adventure, Flinders Ranges and Outback has got the perfect pack for you! The place offers a dramatic departure from the hustle and bustle of the city. Not only that, it’s readily accessible to the public. Once you get there, you’ll experience things that will make home seem like the most boring place. There are hiking trails, places to scour for opals, and even a desert golf course that doesn’t have grass. There’s something for everyone!
3. Lake EyreWhat’s cool about your last destination is that it’s the biggest lake in Australia if (and only if) it does fill up. Wondering why that’s so? Well, it’s because that Lake Eyre’s normally empty. On most days it’s a big salt crust which is a sight in itself anyway. So take your pick! You can spend the hot days admiring the white crystalline formations that are left of Lake Eyre or if you happen to come here during rainy season, get to see Lake Eyre at its biggest and most glorious! Whichever version of the lake you come to see, I’m sure it’ll be equally awesome!
So there you go! My top Roxby Downs travel destinations! To ensure a fun-filled, memorable experience, just go on ahead and follow my lead. You won’t regret it!
Don’t forget to take lots of pictures! Facebook will appreciate it!
