Grandpa’s Guide to Driving in Caboolture
Gramps Ben here again for another adventurous guide! Who said that museums are boring places? Well, try visiting the museums in Caboolture because you’ll have a jaw dropping experience! Before, I also thought that museums were boring (history and stuff). But after my trip in Caboolture, museums became at the top of my list every time I visit new places!
I went to Caboolture out of curiousity. Yep. And I was really happy because my trip there triggered serendipity —I discovered something new about myself (that museums are fascinating and that beautiful enlightenment should be embraced since with enlightenment comes learning and a new way of looking at things).
The suburb of Caboolture is about 50 kilometers north of Brisbane. It is considered as the northernmost urban area of the greater Brisbane metropolitan region in South East Queensland because it marks the end of the Brisbane suburban commuter railway service along the North Coast railway line.
Here’s a trivia: Even though Caboolture isn’t that large, it has its own airfield! The airfield primarily services general and recreational aviation. Furthermore, the airport is home to a number of aviation enterprises and attractions such as the Caboolture Warplane Museum —where you’ll find operational P51 Mustang, CAC WIrraway, and CAC Winjeel aircraft!— and the Beaufort Restoration Group —a group of volunteers restoring and Australian-built DAP Beaufort Mark VII Bomber!
Aside from its airfield, some of the places that will surely stir up your interests are:
1. The Abbey Museum of Art and ArcheologyThe Museum is an invaluable collection of antiquities and fine arts from around the world!
Another reason to visit this wonderful place is that the Museum has won international acclaim for the quality of its displays and scope of its collections (from different civilizations and cultures)!
You’ll also be given a chance to see what Western Europe was over the last half-million years until modern times!
2. The Caboolture Historical VillageThe Historical Village is located at 280 Beerburrum Road, Caboolture —about 2 kilometers north of the Caboolture Central Business District.
The Caboolture Historical Village is a museum with a large collection (about 50 000) of social history items displayed in a village setting! In the village, you’ll encounter activities such as train rides for kids; historic homes and furnishings; antique machinery, tractors, and cars; a rainforest garden. This 12-hectare village has something for everyone!
Caboolture really has many beautiful things to see. I never thought that I’ll be enjoying history and artifacts this much.
