Grandpas Guide to Driving in Casino
Hello dear readers. A friend of mine just arrived from Las Vegas and gave all the talk about the casinos there. Hmmmm..kind of rings the bell. Ahh yes, I remember. I was about to give a guide to a town in Australia with the same name as of the gambling hub. Get ready for Casino! The town on Casino is located on the area of the Northern Rivers in New South Wales. It is about 726 kilometers north of Sydney and about 228 kilometers south of Brisbane.
Casino is situated on the banks of the Richmond River where the junction of the Bruxner Highway and the Summerland Way is located. And in 2006, Casino has a population of 9,400 people.
Casino is the seat of the Richmond Valley Council. It has a sister city agreement with Cassino in Italy and at the same time, it was named after the same place.
Aside from being the seat of its local government area, Casino is one of Australia’s largest beef centers. It is the regional hub of a very vast cattle industry thus making it the “Beef Capital” of Australia. Annually, the town celebrates Beef Week but in 2007, it was canceled due to drought.

Yep! Choosing and renting your car is only a few clicks away!
Now that you have a car, I have here suggestions of the places and activities you must not miss out when you visit the town of Casino.
1. Beef Week If you’re planning to go to Casino during May, then you should not miss their famous Beef Week!
The Beef Week focuses on the area’s most important industry —the Beef industry!
There are plenty of things for visitors to see and enjoy —fashion parades, talent quests, country music, rodeos, street parades, and the crowning of the Beef Week Queen.
2. The Platypus PoolVisit Casino’s Platypus Pool and see the darling platypus while it swims and feed in its natural environment! There are also fishes, water fowls, and ducks in the area.
3. Casino Miniature RailwayOne of the most unique experiences you’ll encounter in your life is when you ride one of Casino’s trains in miniature railways. The trip is around four kilometers railway tracks of 7 ¼ inch and 5 inch mix dual gauge.
The train leaves North Casino Station and winds through the magnificent Jabiru Geneebeinga Wetland. Before taking the trip back to the station, you wander along the bush walking tracks. You can also bring your own food and choose a nice spot to enjoy it.
Aside from the beautiful scenery, the Wetland is also rich in bird life. So, it will be nice to bring binoculars.
The Casino Miniature Railway opens at 10:00am and closes at around 4:00pm.
So, what are you waiting for?! Book a car, drive around, and enjoy your stay in Casino!
