Grandpas Guide to Driving in Botany

Good evening my readers. How was your day? Mine was really tiring. I went with my nephew -who is an engineer- while he conducted a practice survey on the park because the town's planning to enlarge its area. The actual survey will be conducted if his team has arrived. At first, looking at what my nephew was doing, I thought that what he was doing was easy because he didn't brought anything and he was just walking back and forth. But it is more than what it seems.

While my nephew was pacing back and forth, I remember the time when I visited Botany in New South Wales because I did a lot of strolling in their parks.

Botany is a suburbin southeastern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is about 10 kilometers south of the Sydney central business district and is part of the City of Botany Bay. Botany is situated on the northern shore of Botany Bay, which is east of Sydney Airport, and next to the suburbs of Mascot, Banksmeadow, Pagewood, and Port Botany.

My trip:

1. Botany Bay National Park La Perouse Museum

Botany Bay National Park has a remarkable display of native plants and birds and flaunts the beautiful coastline views, bushwalks, beaches, picnic areas, historic buildings, forts, and monuments. The National park is less than an hour drive from Sydney's center.

You will be able to find out more about the history of Botany Bay at the sites on both the north and the south headlands of Botany Bay. Below the park's scratched sandstone cliffs, you'll be able to see Botany's rich marine environments. Above, you will find the remainder of the heath land vegetation which Banks and Solander first studied in 1770.

At the La Perouse Museum, you'll discover the story of the unfortunate explorer named Comte de Laperouse who landed in Botany Bay in 1788. Their encounters with the British and local Aboriginal people, maps, early navigation instruments, and relics that were salvaged from shipwrecks are also illustrated in the Museum.

2. Sir Joseph Banks Park Foreshore Reserve and Sir Joseph Banks Pleasure Gardens

The Sir Joseph Banks Park comprises the Foreshore Reserve and the Sir Joseph Banks Pleasure Gardens.

The Foreshore Reserve is about 28 hectares of bushland reclaimed from Botany Bay. The Reserve features walking tracks through sand dunes to protected wetlands -formed around a group of ponds.

The Pleasure Gardens reveals the history of the area. The Gardens also features a zoo playground that has life-size animal statues, a mosaic that shows Bank's journey, a decorative flag terrace, the Banksia garden, and the central oval running track.

In the Pleasure Gardens, you will also see a statue of Sir Joseph Banks examining botanical specimens.

My first stop was at Botany Bay National Park. And after seeing this place, I was delighted that I wanted to see more of Botany.

Botany is another of the many “thumbs-up” places that I will recommend to you. Visit and see the place and you will surely recommend it to your friends and loved ones.

I rented a car for my trip in Botany. The vroomvroomvroom.com.au is the “entrance” to the best car rental dealers —they have the cheapest car rental rates but they guarantee 100% customer satisfaction.
