Grandpas Guide to Driving in Armidale

A pleasant day my readers. It’s almost time for lunch but I’m not yet that hungry. I woke up late this morning so I just ate breakfast. I think what I should really say is that I just had brunch. Well, to pass time until I get hungry, let me tell you about my trip to the city of Armidale.
Armidale City is located in the Northern Tablelands, New South Wales, Australia. It is the administrative seat for the region of the Northern Tablelands. Armidale is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane —at the intersection of the New England Highway and Waterfall Way.
Around Armidale, there are areas that have distinguished natural beauty and scientific interest. There are also quite a lot of World Heritage national parks is the area which includes the New England National Park and the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. And to the west of Armidale is the Mount Yarrowyck Nature Reserve.
I rented a car from Vroom Vroom Vroom (vroomvroomvroom.com.au) and without delay, I went to Armidale.
My trip:
1. Oxley Wild Rivers National Park
A World Heritage and the seventh largest national park in New South Wales, the Oxley Wild River National Park is a must see. The park has wilderness areas and considerable pockets of dry rainforest. It is also a prominent habitat for the endangered Brush-tailed Rock Wallaby.
The Wollomombi , Dangars, Gara, and the Apsley Gorges are the features of this park. Spectacular waterfalls, grand walks, charming picnic and barbecue sites, scenic bush trolls —these are only some of the few highlights in this World Heritage. And guess what, the area has viewing platforms at the different Gorges thus, the place is very wheelchair friendly.
2. New England Regional Art Museum
The New England Regional Art Museum houses one of the top collections of Australian Art outside a capital city! Works are mostly from the Howard Hinton Collection —from 1880’s to the 1940’s. Works by early Australian artists such as Tom Roberts and Arthur Streeton are also included in their vast collection.880s to the 1940s.
The museum also feature works from the Chandler Coventry Collection which has more than 250 pieces by Sydney artists of the 1960’s not to mention Brett Whiteley.
They also have a Museum Shop that has multi-colored and vibrant display of works by Australian craftspeople —an assorted range of objects from jewelry, ceramics, and glass. The Museum is open from 10:30am to 5:00pm.
Armidale is truly an excellent place to visit because it has a lot to offer to the world. A paradise of World Heritages —this is Armidale. Well, I think that’s about for now. I think I go grab a bite in the kitchen. If eating between breakfast time and lunch time is called “brunch”, what term will you use if you eat between lunch time and dinner time? Is it “luner”? *laughing*
Have a nice day! =)
