Grandpa's Guide to Driving in Fyshwick

Alright there, young ones? You up for another one of my extremely helpful guides? Oh, you’re in luck then! I’m doing another special! It’s on an industrial suburb in Southern Canberra called Fyshwick.
The suburb got its name after Sir Philip Fysh. He’s a Tasmanian politician who helped start up Australia’s Federation. The other half of Fyshwick, the “wick”, comes from an Old English definition meaning “dwelling place”. When “wick” is used as an extension it means “village” or “district” thus… Fyshwick.

Fyshwick’s streets get their names from Australian industrial towns and regions and the entire suburb is composed mostly of light industrial and retail space.
There’s also this railway line (the only one into Canberra) that runs through the centre of Fyshwick, separating the area into two halves. Ipswich and Newcastle Streets and the Monaro Highway cross the railway line to unite the two halves of Fyshwick.

Now then, to circle the streets of Fyshwick, enjoying all it has to offer, a car would certainly come in handy. You’re looking for state-of-the-art vehicles. You consider safety, aesthetic quality and great specs all at a reasonable price. Come and click here at http://www.vroomvroomvroom.com.au where you will find all that and more! Now, for your road trip! Shall I tell you the best places to drop by?

1. Jerrabomberra Wetlands
Well, you should start with the Jerrabomberra Wetlands! This nature reserve is one of the most prized habitats in the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) that’s of national and international significance. It’s quite important because it provides a refuge for migrating birds.
Stroll through the place and you’ll get to see a unique collection of terrestrial habitats, remnants of the wetland’s agricultural origins, and be enlightened how this place came to be. Experience the delights of watching wildlife as you pass through the reserve’s pathways and make yourself invisible in their bird hides.

2. Grand Prix Karting
The next place requires you to get out of your car, off the road, and climb into a smaller car, and it’s on a track this time. Park up at Grand Prix Karting to feel the exhilaration as you speed around a safe, professional environment complete with computerised lap timing. If you ever dreamed of becoming a race car driver then this is the place for you!

3. Fyshwick Food Maket
If you want a taste of the local produce come to the Fyshwick Food Maket!
They have got delicious delicatessen condiments, Canberra wines, fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood, Asian grocers and specialty stores selling everything from crocodile and goat meat to fresh pasta. You can drop in any time from Thursday to Sunday, 8am to 5:30 pm.
Stop by and relax with a coffee and discover Fyshwick markets for yourself. I promise you a great experience.

So that’s about it, everyone. That’s Fyshwick at its finest for you.
Oh no, the kettle’s calling! See, it’s my turn to make tea today. Water’s well boiled by now, I guess. Better attend to that. Wouldn’t want to keep my tea party mates waiting. So yeah, you’ll read from me soon!
Have fun in Fyshwick, kids! Cheers!
