Drivers Licenses and Age QualificationsAll renters must be aged 21-75 years for standard vehicles (ECMR - FCAR) at the commencement of the rental. For any driver be they the renter or an additional driver, aged 21 to 24 inclusive, an age surcharge of $16.50 per day applies. No surcharges apply to additional drivers aged 25 years and more. Thrifty recognises all current non-provisional and non-probationary Australian drivers licenses and current overseas licenses. The required driver's license must be in English with photo and produced at the commencement of the rental. Should the license be in another language or have no photo, an International Driving Permit must accompany it. Credit cardsThrifty will require a deposit of between AUD$385 & AUD$1100 from your clients upon collection of the vehicle to cover additional charges i.e. fuel, additional kilometres, and liability waiver. This deposit is to be paid by any internationally recognised credit card. NO CASH DEPOSIT WILL BE ACCEPTED. An imprint of the credit card, and the deposit, will be taken on pick up of the vehicle.Credit card must be in the name of the authorised renter. Driving RestrictionsAll non 4WD vehicles are not permitted to travel on unsealed roads. Western Australia 4WD's are permitted to travel on unsealed government gazetted roads. If vehicles are travelling interstate or into remote areas prior written approval by Thrifty WA must be given. Travelling into some areas of Western Australia require National Park passes these are available for sale from the Perth Tourist Centre. South Australia 4WD vehicles can be used on gazetted unsealed roads. Travelling into some areas of the South Australian outback may involve the need for a Desert Pass permit. Kangaroo Island All vehicles are permitted to travel to Kangaroo Island if collected from a corporate location only. Cooktown 4WD vehicles are permitted to travel as far as Cooktown from Cairns City and Airport locations only. Fraser, Moreton and Stradbroke Islands* Thrifty allows selected 4WD's to be driven on Fraser, Morton and Stradbroke Islands when hired from Thrifty Hervey Bay. * Special liability charges may apply Northern Territory/Broome/Kununurra For 4WD vehicles there is no reduced liability option available for travel on the Tanami Track, Canning Stock Route, Gulf Track, Cape York Peninsular track and Mitchell Plateau. Larapinta and Namatjira Drive (Mereenie Loop Road) any damage sustained to the vehicle whilst on these roads is subject to the standard damage liabilities of $5500.00 for multi vehicle accident and $5500.00 for a single vehicle accident. Any additional liability reducer you have purchased does not apply for travel on these roads. Dusk to Dawn: any damage sustained to the rented vehicle as a result of a collision with an animal between the hours of dusk and dawn will not be covered by Thrifty's damage liabilities. All damages and recovery costs will be the responsibility of the hirer. On all rental vehicles damage to overhead, under body or damage caused by water is not covered by any damage liabilities i.e. it is at the hire's own expense. In Broome no vehicles are allowed to travel on any beaches. Snow Cover (Jun - Oct) All 4WD and All wheel drive vehicles taken above the snow line must purchase Snowpak Cover, which is $22.00 per day inc GST. This is in addition the standard liability reduction available. No other vehicle is permitted above the snow line. Baby SeatsBaby seats are available at most Thrifty locations at a cost of AUD$5.50 per day to a maximum of AUD$33.00 per rental, per seat. When you cannot drive the vehicleThe Vehicle must not be used by You or by any Authorised Driver (unless authorised by Us in writing): If the Place of Hire is in NSW, QLD, VIC or SA the Vehicle must not be used in WA, NT or TAS. If the Place of Hire is in WA, NT or TAS the Vehicle must not be used out of the state or territory of hire. (Except where Snowpak coverage is purchased) above the snow line being either the entrance to national parks in which snow falls or areas in which snow chains are required to be fitted (by the relevant authority). On any unsealed road (being a road not sealed with a hard material such as tar, bitumen or concrete) unless the Vehicle is a 4WD in which case it may also be used on graded unsealed roads. No Vehicle (including 4WDs) may be used on off road conditions. Off road conditions include but not is limited to fire trails, beaches, sand, tracks, fields or paddocks. To carry persons for hire or reward or to carry any inflammable, explosive or corrosive materials. To propel or tow any vehicle (not being a trailer), or to propel or tow any trailer with a load in excess of the capacity of the trailer, towing mechanism or Vehicle. To carry any greater load, number of persons or for use in a manner or for a purpose for which the Vehicle was not designed and constructed or to carry any greater number of persons than the Vehicle has seat belts. To carry any animal or pet. For racing, pacemaking, reliability trials or hill climbing, or being tested in preparation for those purposes. In contravention of any criminal legislation, any legislation involving a penalty, or for any illegal purpose whatsoever. If We have directed You or any Authorised Driver not to drive the Vehicle. Use of VehicleYou agree to return the Vehicle to Us:
We must be notified and agree to any extension of the period of hire, in advance of the Return Date. If You fail to return the Vehicle to Us by the Return Date & Time, the Vehicle will be immediately reported to the Police as having been stolen.
You will be responsible for the Vehicle and the Hire will continue until We make Our final inspection (including where the inspection can not take place for some time e.g.You return the Vehicle to a location which is unattended). |
